Delete your Sarathi account
App: Sarathi (Google Play package com.meetsarathi.app, and the Apple App Store)
Developer: Marudeva Creations LLP
Effective 17 October 2026
This page explains how to delete your सारथि Sarathi account and the data linked to it. Sarathi is developed and published on Google Play and the App Store by Marudeva Creations LLP.
- In the app: Settings → Privacy → Delete account, then press and hold Hold to delete. See the steps.
- Without the app: email hello@meetsarathi.com with the subject “Delete my account”. You do not need to install or open the app. See the steps.
- Keep your account but delete some data, such as particular journal entries: see section 7.
- Your account and data are erased from our live systems within 30 days, and from our backups within 90 days.
- We keep a small set of records for longer only where the law requires it. They are listed below.
- Deletion is permanent. If you want a copy of your data, export it first.
1. Before you delete
- Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your journal, reflections or progress afterwards. If you sign up again later, you will start fresh.
- Export your data first if you want to keep it. In the app, go to Settings → Privacy and choose to export your data. You will get a JSON file with your profile, journal entries, reflections, Karma Mirror, Ask Sarathi history, settings and consent record. JSON is a plain-text format that you can open in any text editor.
- Paid subscriptions (if you have one): deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play or the App Store, and the store will keep billing you until you cancel. Please cancel it first: on Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions; on iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. The app reminds you of this before you delete.
2. Delete your account in the app
- Open Sarathi and sign in.
- Go to Settings, then Privacy.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted, then press and hold Hold to delete until it finishes.
- The app confirms that your account has been deleted and signs you out.
Your account can no longer be used. Most of your data is deleted straight away, and the rest within the times in section 6. You do not need to email us as well.
3. Delete your account without the app
If you no longer have the app, or cannot sign in, you can ask us to delete your account by email. You do not need to reinstall the app.
- Write to hello@meetsarathi.com with the subject “Delete my account”.
- Send it from the email address registered with Sarathi. If you signed up with a phone number, write from any email address and include your registered phone number.
- To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm the request from that email or phone number. We will never ask for your password or a one-time code.
We will confirm that we have received your request within 2 working days, and complete the deletion within 30 days of confirming that the account is yours. We will tell you when it is done. If you prefer, you can call us on +91 78620 07078 (Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm IST) and we will help you make the request.
If you can no longer use your registered phone number or email, write to us anyway with any details that help us confirm the account is yours, such as the first name on the account and roughly when you joined. We will delete the account once we are reasonably sure it is yours.
4. What we delete
When you delete your account, we delete:
- your account and sign-in details, including your phone number, email and password record held by Google Firebase (and, once Google and Apple sign-in are available, the link to your Google or Apple account);
- your profile: first name, age band, gender, language, time zone, life profile, and your nudge and journal times;
- all your journal entries, drafts, mood check-ins and the reflections Sarathi wrote for you;
- your Karma Mirror trait reflections, level and journey progress;
- your Ask Sarathi questions and conversation history;
- the text of any voice recordings (the audio itself is never kept);
- your consent choices;
- your devices, push notification tokens and records of the nudges sent to you;
- your Help-Me requests;
- feedback you sent in the app, and any reports of AI replies; and
- usage analytics events and app logs linked to you.
5. What we keep, and for how long
We keep a few records for a limited time, and only where the law requires it or where it is needed to show that we handled your request properly. We keep them locked away, use them only for the reason given, and then delete them.
| What we keep | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your registered phone number or email and account ID, with security logs (IP addresses and times) | Indian law requires services like ours to keep these, to investigate security incidents and answer lawful requests from authorities (IT Rules 2021 and CERT-In Directions 2022) | Up to 180 days after deletion |
| Processing logs (records of what was done and when) | Required by the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, once that rule applies (from May 2027) | Up to one year from the date of the processing |
| A record of your deletion request, and any emails between us | To show that we did what you asked, and to deal with any follow-up or complaint | Up to 2 years |
| Billing and tax records (only if you bought a paid plan) | Required by tax and accounting laws | As long as those laws require, at present up to 8 years |
| Backup copies | Kept only to recover from a system failure, never for any other use | Overwritten within 90 days. Google Firebase removes its copies of sign-in data within 180 days. |
| Copies held briefly by our AI providers | Some providers keep recent requests only to detect abuse and keep their service secure | Usually no more than 30 days from the request |
| Crash reports | Not linked to your account. Collected only if you turned on analytics. | Deleted automatically within 90 days |
| Anonymous totals, such as “1,000 journals written this week” | These cannot identify you, so they are not personal data | May be kept |
6. How long deletion takes
- Straight away: when you hold to delete in the app, you are signed out, your account stops working and most of your data is deleted.
- Within 30 days: everything listed in section 4 is erased from all our live systems, including those of our service providers.
- Within 90 days: it is gone from our backups. Google Firebase removes its copies of your sign-in details within 180 days.
- Records the law requires are deleted at the end of the periods in section 5.
7. Deleting some data but keeping your account
You can remove some of your data and keep using Sarathi.
In the app
- Usage analytics and crash reports: go to Settings → Privacy → What you agreed to and turn analytics off. We will delete the analytics events linked to you, and stop crash reports.
- Voice: turn off “Speaking instead of typing” in the same place. Audio is never kept, so there is nothing to delete.
- Notifications: turn them off for Sarathi in your phone’s settings. Your push token is removed when you sign out.
By email
Write to hello@meetsarathi.com with the subject “Delete some of my data”, from your registered email or giving your registered phone number, and tell us what to remove. For example:
- particular journal entries (give the dates), or your whole journal history;
- your Ask Sarathi conversations;
- your mood check-ins;
- your Help-Me history; or
- feedback or reports of AI replies you sent us.
We confirm your request within 2 working days and complete it within 15 days. The data is removed from our live systems then, and from our backups within 90 days. If removing something would change how Sarathi works for you (for example, deleting your whole journal resets your Karma Mirror and level), we will tell you before we do it.
