Terms & Conditions
For the app Sarathi (Android package com.meetsarathi.app, and on the Apple App Store), published by the developer Marudeva Creations LLP.
Effective 17 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions are the agreement between you and Marudeva Creations LLP for using सारथि Sarathi. The key points:
- You must be 18 or older to use Sarathi, and it is offered in India.
- Sarathi offers guidance for reflection. It is not medical, psychological or emergency care, and its AI replies can be wrong.
- If you are in crisis, call Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free, 24×7). If you are in danger, call 112.
- Your journal belongs to you. You give us only the permission we need to run Sarathi for you.
- Please use Sarathi fairly: no misuse, copying, scraping or reverse engineering.
- Sarathi is free during the beta. If paid plans come later, you will see the price and terms before you pay, and we will never charge you without your clear consent.
- Indian law applies and the courts at Mumbai have jurisdiction. Your rights as a consumer are not affected.
1. About these Terms
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Marudeva Creations LLP, Flat No 3, Unnati Sadan, Jain Mandir Road, Daulat Nagar, Borivali East, Mumbai 400066, Maharashtra, India (“we”, “us”). We operate the सारथि Sarathi mobile app and the website meetsarathi.com (together, “Sarathi”).
By creating an account or using Sarathi, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Sarathi. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these Terms.
These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000. They do not need a physical or digital signature.
2. Who can use Sarathi
- You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a contract under Indian law. We check your age once at sign-up. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will close it and delete its data.
- Sarathi is offered to people in India.
- Your account is for you alone. Please give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- If you are the lawful guardian of an adult with a disability who would like to use Sarathi, please contact us first.
3. What Sarathi is, and what it is not
Sarathi is a quiet companion for daily reflection, rooted in Jain teaching. It offers a daily wisdom card, gentle nudges, an evening journal, the Karma Mirror, Ask Sarathi, practices and a sounds library.
Sarathi offers guidance for reflection. It is not:
- medical, psychological, psychiatric or counselling care, or a replacement for a doctor or therapist;
- an emergency or crisis service;
- a religious authority, or a replacement for the guidance of your guru, the monks and nuns of your tradition, or a learned teacher; or
- legal, financial or other professional advice.
Sarathi is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical or mental health condition. Its mood check-ins, Karma Mirror and levels are tools for self-reflection, not a medical or psychological assessment, a judgement of you or a measure of your worth.
Please consult a doctor or another qualified health professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and check with them before making any decision about your health. Keep using any care you already receive, and never stop or change a treatment because of something Sarathi said.
4. If you are in crisis
If you are thinking about harming yourself, or you feel unable to cope, please reach out to someone now:
- Tele-MANAS: 14416 or 1-800-891-4416. Free, confidential mental health support from the Government of India, 24 hours a day, in many Indian languages.
- If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112, or go to the nearest hospital.
The Help-Me button in the app shows these numbers. When you tap it, our small team may also follow up with care, but we cannot promise how quickly. Sarathi is not monitored around the clock, and no one watches your journal or conversations as you write them.
5. Your account
- You sign in with your phone number (using a one-time code) or with your email and password. Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple are coming soon; our Privacy Policy explains what they share with us. Keep your codes, passwords and these accounts private and do not share your Sarathi account.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account, unless it is caused by our failure to keep it secure.
- Tell us straight away at hello@meetsarathi.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- We will never ask you for your password or for a one-time code by email, phone or message.
6. AI-generated replies
Sarathi uses artificial intelligence, provided by third-party AI providers, to write reflections, answer questions and choose passages from its library. Your journal and chat text is sent to these providers only after you give your permission in the app. Our Privacy Policy names the providers and says exactly what they receive. Please keep in mind:
- AI replies are generated automatically. They can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, they may not fit your situation, and they may sometimes state or attribute a teaching wrongly.
- We use safeguards to keep replies on topic and to block harmful or offensive content, but no safeguard is perfect.
- Use your own judgement. For important matters of practice or belief, check with a learned teacher or the original texts.
- Do not rely on Sarathi for decisions about your health, safety, money or legal matters.
Reporting a reply
If a reply seems wrong, hurtful, offensive, unsafe or inappropriate, please report it:
- In the app: tap Report this reply on the reflection or answer, choose a reason and, if you like, add a note. You do not need to leave the app.
- By email: write to hello@meetsarathi.com with the subject “Report a reply”.
We review every report within 2 working days, act on it where needed, and use what we learn to make Sarathi’s safeguards better.
You may use the replies Sarathi gives you for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
7. The content library
Sarathi includes teachings, passages from scriptures and other texts, translations, meditations, stotras, chants, talks and other audio (the “content library”). Some of it was created for Sarathi and some is used under licence from its owners or is in the public domain.
The content library is for your personal, non-commercial and devotional use within the app. Please do not copy, download (except where the app offers it), record, redistribute, broadcast or sell it, and please treat sacred texts with respect. If you believe any content infringes your rights, contact our Grievance Officer (section 21) and we will look into it promptly.
8. Your content
Your journal entries, answers, questions and voice recordings (“your content”) belong to you.
You give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, process and send your content, including to the service providers named in our Privacy Policy, only to run Sarathi for you, keep it safe, and as described in that policy. This permission ends when your content is deleted, subject to the limited legal retention explained in the Privacy Policy.
We will not publish your content, and we will not use it to train AI models.
Please make sure your content is lawful. Your journal is about you, so try not to include other people’s private details without their permission.
9. Acceptable use
Please use Sarathi in the spirit it was made. You agree not to:
- use Sarathi if you are under 18, or let anyone else use your account;
- pretend to be someone else, or give false information;
- copy, modify, translate, sell, rent or sublicense the app or its content;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or try to extract its source code, models or instructions, except where the law allows this despite these Terms;
- scrape or crawl Sarathi, access it with bots or other automated means, or mine the content library or AI replies to build another product or to train AI models;
- get around security, usage limits or safety features, or try to make Sarathi produce harmful content;
- test Sarathi for security weaknesses without our written permission (if you find one, please tell us at hello@meetsarathi.com);
- upload viruses or harmful code, or overload or disrupt our systems;
- use Sarathi to create, store or send anything that is unlawful; obscene or pornographic; harmful to children; defamatory; harassing; invasive of another person’s privacy; hateful or insulting on the basis of religion, caste, gender, ethnicity or similar grounds; encouraging violence; infringing anyone’s intellectual property; knowingly false or misleading; or threatening the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its friendly relations with other countries, or public order;
- use Sarathi for a commercial purpose, such as offering paid coaching through it, without our written permission; or
- abuse or threaten our team.
None of this stops you writing honestly in your journal about how you feel, including painful feelings. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please use Help-Me or call Tele-MANAS on 14416.
If content or an account breaks these rules, we may remove the content or suspend the account, as Indian law requires. We will remind you of these rules at least once a year.
10. Free now, paid plans later
During the beta
Sarathi is free during the beta. In future, we may offer paid plans or make some features paid. We will tell you in the app at least 30 days before any feature you can use for free becomes paid. You can then decide whether to pay, keep using any free features, or export your data and leave.
Before you buy
Before any purchase, we will clearly show you:
- the total price in Indian rupees, including taxes;
- what the plan includes;
- the billing period (for example monthly or yearly);
- whether there is a free trial, how long it lasts and what happens when it ends;
- whether the plan renews automatically;
- how to cancel, and the refund terms; and
- that the seller is Marudeva Creations LLP.
We will charge you only after you clearly agree by an affirmative action, such as tapping a button to confirm. We will never use pre-ticked boxes, hidden charges or tricks to get you to pay or to stop you cancelling.
How you pay
Purchases inside the app are made through Google Play billing on Android or the Apple App Store on iPhone. Payment is charged to your Google Play or Apple account when you confirm the purchase. If we offer plans on our website, they are paid through the payment partner shown to you at checkout. The store’s or payment partner’s terms also apply to the payment. We never see your card, UPI or bank details.
Any features that are free will stay usable without a paid plan, and we will show you clearly which features need one.
Renewal and cancellation
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, for the same period and at the current price (see “Price changes” below), until you cancel it. Your store account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- To stop renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can cancel at any time. On Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Sarathi’s own settings will also link straight to these pages. For other payment partners, cancel as shown at checkout.
- When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
- Deleting the app or your Sarathi account does not cancel a store subscription. Please cancel it in the store too.
- Free trials: before a trial starts, we will show you how long it lasts, the price you will pay after it, and when the first charge happens. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns automatically into a paid subscription and you will be charged that price. If you buy a subscription during a trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
- If you pay through a payment partner in India, recurring payments follow Reserve Bank of India rules, including advance notice before each charge.
Price changes
If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you in advance. The change will not affect a period you have already paid for, and you can cancel before the new price applies. The stores may also ask for your consent to a higher price.
Refunds
- Refunds for purchases made through Google Play or the App Store are handled by Google or Apple under their refund policies. We will help you with the request.
- For purchases made directly with us, the refund terms will be shown at checkout.
- If a paid feature does not work as described and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, contact us and we will put it right, including with a refund where appropriate. We process accepted refunds within a reasonable time and as the law requires.
- Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
11. Intellectual property
The Sarathi app, the name सारथि Sarathi, its logo, design, software, and the text, teachings and audio created for Sarathi are owned by Mandan Parivar Trust (and, where relevant, its licensors). They are licensed to Marudeva Creations LLP. Third-party content in the library belongs to its owners.
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in line with these Terms. You receive no other rights. Please do not use our names or logos without written permission.
12. Feedback
We welcome feedback, especially during the beta. If you send us ideas or suggestions, you allow us and Mandan Parivar Trust to use them freely, without payment or any obligation to you. We will not publish your name or personal details with your feedback without your permission. Please do not paste journal entries into feedback unless you are comfortable with our team reading them.
13. Beta, changes and availability
Sarathi is in beta, so features may change, be added or be removed, and there may be interruptions or errors. We work to keep Sarathi running well, but we cannot promise it will always be available.
We will tell you in the app before any significant change. If we ever decide to close Sarathi, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice so you can export your data. If you have paid for a period that has not been used, we will refund it for direct purchases and help you request a refund for store purchases.
14. Suspension and ending your use
- You can stop using Sarathi at any time and delete your account in the app. See Delete your account.
- We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect you, other people or Sarathi. Unless it is urgent or the law prevents it, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
- When your access ends, your licence to use Sarathi ends. Your data is then handled as our Privacy Policy describes, and you may ask us for an export unless the law prevents it.
- Sections 8, 11, 15, 16, 17, 20 and 22 continue to apply after your use ends.
15. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, Sarathi is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work hard to make Sarathi helpful, accurate and safe, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will bring any particular spiritual, emotional or other result. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
16. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of profits or opportunities, or for decisions you make based on Sarathi’s replies; and
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to Sarathi is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Sarathi in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000.
We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.
17. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms, misused Sarathi or broke the law or another person’s rights, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees), to the extent they were caused by you. This does not apply to losses caused by us.
18. App stores and other services
You download Sarathi from Google Play or the Apple App Store, and their terms also apply to your use of the store. We, not the stores, are responsible for Sarathi and its content. Sarathi relies on service providers named in our Privacy Policy.
If you downloaded Sarathi from the Apple App Store
- Acknowledgement: these Terms are between you and Marudeva Creations LLP only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Sarathi and its content. These Terms do not override the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Scope of licence: the licence in section 11 lets you use Sarathi on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as the Usage Rules allow. Other accounts linked to yours through Family Sharing or volume purchasing may also use it.
- Maintenance and support: we alone are responsible for providing maintenance and support for Sarathi, as these Terms describe or the law requires (see our Support page). Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Sarathi.
- Warranty: if Sarathi fails to meet any warranty that applies and has not been effectively disclaimed, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Sarathi, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility.
- Product claims: we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with any claims by you or a third party about Sarathi or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Sarathi fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property: if a third party claims that Sarathi, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance: you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated by it as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Our contact details: please send questions, complaints or claims about Sarathi to Marudeva Creations LLP, Flat No 3, Unnati Sadan, Jain Mandir Road, Daulat Nagar, Borivali East, Mumbai 400066, Maharashtra, India; email hello@meetsarathi.com; phone +91 78620 07078.
- Third-party terms: when you use Sarathi, you must also follow any third-party agreements that apply, such as your mobile network or data plan terms.
- Third-party beneficiary: Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right (and is taken to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when Sarathi or the law changes. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app at least 15 days before it takes effect. Changes do not apply to anything that happened before they take effect. If you keep using Sarathi after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using Sarathi and delete your account. Changes to paid plans also follow section 10.
20. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
- If you have a problem, please contact us first (section 21). Most issues can be solved quickly that way.
- Subject to the points below, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about Sarathi or these Terms.
- This does not limit your right as a consumer to file a complaint before the Consumer Commission where you live or work, under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. You can also get help from the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 or at consumerhelpline.gov.in.
- For complaints about your personal data, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India, as our Privacy Policy explains.
